Fixtures fail at the connections, not the spout
A faucet is a mechanical object with a finite life, but the vast majority of problems we are called out to are not the faucet itself. They are the connections behind and beneath it: hardened supply lines, angle stops that will not close, drain assemblies that were hand-tightened onto worn washers, and P-traps assembled from whatever was in the van.
That is why we replace the shutoff valves and supply lines as part of a fixture install rather than reusing what is there. The parts cost very little. The failure they prevent, a braided line letting go under mains pressure inside a cabinet while nobody is home, costs a kitchen.
We fit what you have bought, or advise on what to buy. Where a sink is being changed as well as a faucet we check the cabinet base, the drain height and the disposal connection before quoting, because those are where the surprises live.

When to replace
Signs a fixture is worth replacing
Some of these are repairs. Together they usually mean replacement is better value.
Constant dripping
A worn cartridge or seat is repairable on a good faucet. On a cheap or very old one, the cost of parts and labour approaches the cost of a better unit.
Corrosion or mineral build-up
Green or white crusting at the base and around the aerator means the internals are going the same way. Flow and spray pattern degrade with it.
Wobbling at the base
The mounting nuts underneath have loosened or the deck has corroded. Left alone, movement works the supply connections loose too.
Low flow at one fixture
Often just an aerator or cartridge. If cleaning the aerator does not fix it, the valve body may be scaled internally.
Staining or damage to the sink
Chips in enamel, deep scratches in stainless or crazing in porcelain will keep looking dirty regardless of cleaning.
A remodel is happening anyway
If the cabinet or worktop is coming out, that is by far the cheapest moment to change the sink and fixtures.
Our process
How an installation runs
Check underneath, quote, then fit.
Inspect the connections
We look at the existing shutoffs, supply lines, drain and trap before quoting. On older installs this is where extra work turns up, and you hear about it up front.
Remove and prepare
Old fixture out, deck cleaned, and anything corroded or damaged in the mounting area sorted before the new unit goes down.
Fit, connect and test
New fixture set and sealed, new angle stops and supply lines, drain and trap assembled properly, then run under pressure while we check every joint for leaks.
What we replace as standard, and why
Angle stops. The small shutoff valves under the sink. Most are decades old and have never been operated. The moment one is turned it often begins to weep, which is why replacing them during the install is standard for us rather than an upsell.
Supply lines. Braided stainless connectors have a service life, and the failure mode is not a drip. A burst supply line under a kitchen sink discharges at mains pressure until someone shuts the main.
Drain and trap. Reusing an old P-trap with a fresh sink is a false economy. Slip washers harden, threads corrode, and a slow leak inside a cabinet destroys the base long before anyone notices.
None of these are expensive parts. All of them are the reason a fixture install either lasts or comes back.
